Apple to Revamp Shortcuts App with AI-Powered Natural Language Automation

Apple Shortcuts

Apple is revamping its Shortcuts app by integrating Apple Intelligence, its proprietary AI framework, to make automation on iPhone, iPad, and Mac more intuitive. Users will soon be able to create custom workflows using natural language, such as asking the app to send daily weather updates, with the AI handling the setup automatically.

The update, expected to be previewed at WWDC 2025 and launched in 2026, is part of Apple’s broader plan to embed AI across its ecosystem. The company will also open its AI models to third-party developers, encouraging new AI-powered features. This upgrade aims to make automation easier for everyone and strengthen Apple’s position against competitors like Microsoft Copilot+ and TaskGPT.
